WHAT’S UPCOMING WITH DEBBIE DAVEY BOOKS:
I’m excited to partner with the Ashby Free Public Library as part of its collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution’s “Museum on Main Street” exhibit, Voices & Votes: Democracy in America, on view from July 26 to September 6, 2025.
As part of the programming, I’ll be participating in two special events:
Saturday, August 2 at the Ashby Library Fair – I’ll host a table where children can express what matters most to them by drawing and sharing their thoughts, encouraging them to find and use their voices.
Wednesday, August 6 at 3:00 PM – I’ll do a reading of my book, A Walk in Town, followed by a journaling activity that teaches kids how to express themselves through writing. Each child will receive a handmade cloth journal to take home.
OTHER UPCOMING INITIATIVES
I'm excited to announce that I'll be opening a new stall at The Local Artizan, located at Solomon Pond Mall in Marlborough, MA, starting August 1st! I’ll be selling my books, peg dolls, and art kits. Don’t worry—my stall at The H.A.M. in Fitchburg will remain open as well.
On September 20th, I’ll also be participating in several events, including the Johnny Appleseed Festival in my hometown of Leominster, MA. At this event, I’ll be teaming up with the talented author Margaret Asante, who wrote The Warrior Queen, a beautifully illustrated picture book about the Ashanti Kingdom of West Africa. I first discovered her work at a vendor fair and knew it was a cultural gem worth sharing.
Stay tuned for more fall dates and events—I can't wait to connect with you!

JULY WAS HOT
July brought the heat—and while there were so many great events one really stood out to me. I joined the EcoTarium’s 200th Birthday Festival in Worcester, where I connected with inspiring nonprofits like CASA, which supports foster youth, and Sweet Inspirations, a candy shop providing jobs for people with disabilities. I also explored programming from the Worcester Art Museum highlighting local women who led the fight for abolition and women's rights, honoring the city’s role in the 1850 National Women’s Rights Convention. While sales were slow, the connections I made with community organizations, educators, and advocates made it an incredibly rewarding and memorable experience.
CHRISTMAS IN JULY
This month, I launched my soft book debut at the Lunenburg Artisan Market, and if you haven’t visited—it’s a must! After years of sparse attendance, Kate Ravlette has revitalized the market over the past two summers with a fantastic selection of artisans.
During their popular “Kids Day” event, I sold The Holiday Stroll for the first time. It felt wonderful to place the book into readers’ hands! For educators, it’s ideal as a “Holidays Around the World” unit resource, covering four key winter holidays in one narrative—unlike many children’s books, which typically focus on a single celebration. Backmatter provides straightforward, classroom-friendly explanations of each holiday.
At the event, children decorated ornaments, received mandarins—a symbol of good luck in both Chinese New Year and Shogatsu (Japanese New Year)—and enjoyed gelt (chocolate coins). It was a joy to connect with families and teachers alike.
