Jump Into Fall

WHAT’S UPCOMING WITH DEBBIE DAVEY BOOKS:

October is easing into a slower pace after September’s whirlwind. I’m looking forward to spending quality time with friends and family while gearing up for a busy November and December ahead.

Here’s where you can find me this month:

  • October 4: Mayo Middle School in Holden, MA

  • October 25: Peabody High School

What I’m really excited about? A peaceful retreat with my church and cheering on Leominster soccer games. Sometimes, slowing down is just what the soul needs!

SEPTEMBER WAS A BLAST!

I jumped back into work with energy, starting the month by selling my books right here in my hometown. It was a joy to bump into familiar faces, share a booth with the wonderful author Margaret Asante, and hand out our brand-new bookmarks (they were a hit!).

At the Johnny Appleseed Festival in Leominster, MA, I had the chance to reconnect with old friends, meet excited readers, and learn a few sales tricks from Margaret. It was especially heartwarming to chat with fans eager for more adventures—especially more stories about Izzy, which I'm actively working on!

On the teaching side, I kicked off two exciting classes on Outschool:

  • ✏️ Word Quest: A Fifth Grade Writing Adventure – where students explore writing through social studies and science.

  • 📝 Write, Write, Write, Away! – a creative writing class focused on mastering different writing formats.

It’s shaping up to be an inspiring school year, and I’m just getting started!

WE THREW A BOOK BASH — AND IT WAS A HIT! 📚🎉

In September, I hosted a small but

mighty event at the H.A.M. called Book Bash! It was an evening packed with fun — kids enjoyed a lively storytime, hands-on crafts, and engaging activities that brought the book to life.

Dinner and a story in our community

Dinner was a crowd-pleaser: chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, and tater tots, all provided by Legends, the fantastic restaurant right next door. Every child went home with a gift bag filled with goodies: a notebook, pencil, hand-painted toy car, and a t-shirt.

Parents were thrilled. One said, “It was a great deal for the amount of money.”

Another shared, “It’s a way for my kids to learn, have fun, and have dinner all in one.” And the kids? Their favorite parts were “making new friends”and “hearing the story.”

We’ll be hosting another Book Bash this December — stay tuned for details! You won’t want to miss it.

GRAB MY LATEST BOOK: THE HOLIDAY STROLL

For educators, it’s ideal as a “Holidays Around the World” unit resource, covering four key winter holidays in one narrative—unlike many children’s books, which typically focus on a single celebration. Backmatter provides straightforward, classroom-friendly explanations of each holiday.
